Y este es el leñador
Que vuelve de su labor
Hacha al hombro y leña al brazo,
Y a dar al amo un abrazo
Corre el mastín salvador.
Y esta es la niña bonita
Que va con su canastita
A encontrar a su papá
Llevándole una cosita
Que el viejo saboreará.
Y esta es la limpia canaña
Con flores y árboles bella
Y un torrente que la baña,
Donde vive la doncella
Y el viejo que la acompaña.
Y este es el cuarto sencillo
De dormir y de coser,
Y a donde viene el pardillo
A repetir su estribillo
Pidiendo algo qué comer.

-¡Ay! en llegando al hogar
La niña, el viejo y el perro,
Tuvieron que hacerle entierro
Con lágrimas de pesar.
